Some may think it's dark here during long winter months when sun doesn't rise above horizon. It's not. In fact, it's pink, orange and purple.
I consider myself lucky, being to able to witness this phenomenal show almost every night. You might feel frightened, when you see them for the first time. I'm still frightened sometimes too. Some nights they are peaceful and calm, sailing slowly across the sky. But some nights the sky looks like a battlefield. -You never know what you're gonna get.
As we have no sunlight in winter, we do have plenty of it in summertime. It's amazing how different the seasons can be. In summertime you quickly lose the sense of time, there is no morning, no evening, the sun is shining 24 hours per day.
Playing outside, having fun, exploring, finding new places, meeting new people and old friends. I've enjoyed staying indoors that much, for me the world is outside and I want to enjoy it as much as possible. It's not a coincidence that I'm living up north in the middle of forests, hills and mountains.
Former Russian mountaineer Anatoli Boukreev once said: “Mountains are not Stadiums where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, they are the cathedrals where I practice my religion.”
I've spent a great deal of my adult life in mountains, but it took me years to really understand that it's not the climbing or skiing, it's being in the mountains what's really important. Just being there.
